The Northern Illinois game

Well we won the game. Nick Stephens played well. However the rest of the offense did not do him any favors. We still lacked in the running game, we still only scored 1 touchdown. and we still need help. If they don't somehow find a way to have some explosive type offense it is going to be a long season. The defense played well but still nothing special. I love Gerald Jones as a play maker but I am afraid he is just not a receiver. He lacks the height. Also its time to give Creer a lot of reps to see what he can do.

VOLS chicken

Being from Tennessee, It only seems natuaral to have a chicken recipe named after us. This one has been in my family for years. I hope you enjoy it. If you do please let me know.
Its called VOLS chicken because of the ingredients in the maridnade.
V=vinegar O=oil L=lemon S=soy
1 part vinegar, 1 part oil, 1 part lemon juice(the kind in the green bottle) 1/2 part soy
i.e. 1 cup vinegar, 1 cup oil, 1 cup lemon juice, 1/2 cup soy sauce.
Mix all the ingredients in a large zip lock bag or large bowl. Add Chicken and let marinade for as long as you would like. Overnight is best.
Grill and serve….your gonna love it

Dont expect to much from Stephens

I like most Tennesse fans am glad to see a change at QB. however I don’t expect Nick Stephens will be the next Peyton Manning or even Casy Claussen for that matter. I do think it will be an improvement over what we have had to endure of the the last four games. Quarterbacks are funny you just never know what will happen. Take Eric Ainge for instance. As a freshman he did things that made me think we had landed the best QB in the country. Then he got hurt and Rick Claussen had a great game against Texas A&M in the bowl game and the QB’s conterversy began. Ainge never recovered. Crompton had a cpl good games in relief of an injured Ainge. Now he cant line-up. The qould of QB’s seems to be unpredictable. So I for one am not expecting to much from Stephens. But it cant be worse then has already.
I think it will be a close game in the first half, but Tennessee will dominate the second half.
Auburn will eventually get Vandy late in the game.
Alabama will crush Kentucky
South Carolina edges out Ole’Miss
Florida takes care of Arkansas easily.

I widh I could play Poker with Phil Fulmer

Me: Hey Phil its on you
Phil: I know, I’m thinking, uhh I fold.
Me: Phil you down big time what are you gonna do?
Phil: I know but there is no way I can hit the card I need, so I fold.
Me: Phil all I had was Jack high but I knew you would fold..If you wanna win at this game you gotta GAMBLE!!!!!
Saturday against Auburn in the second half at some point Fulmer has to realize he is still losing the game. I don’t care if it only by two points you still have to score to win the game. With the new clock rules you cant sit back and play the flip the field game. Plus Tennessee had flipped the field as much as they could. The offense could not get the team in field goal range. AT SOME POINT YOU GOTTA GAMBLE and try to score and win. If you are so confident in the defense then go for it on Fourth down and then stop Auburn. I know its not what you would do all the time. But when your losing you have to score. Fulmer played the second half like he was ahead by two touchdowns.
Crompton is just terrible. I believe he is single handily responsible for the loss of two games. UCLA and Auburn. I’m a pretty understanding guy and I don’t like for people to fail, but Crompton has done it to himself and Tennessee football is bigger then him. The offense cannot be any worse right now if my 14 year old son was under center.
I thought going into this game the only way Fulmer can win this game is to change things up and gambled a bit. Instead he played one of the most conservative games of his career. The worst thing about it is Auburn was beatable on Saturday because they had no offense either and defense played hard.
Our defense played great except for the dreaded 3rd and long. When is Chavis going to learn. If you saw the replay there was absolutely no reason for Auburns receiver to be that wide open at the end of the game when stopping them was your only chance to win. If Auburn makes a great play then there is nothing you can do but when you allow the receiver 15 yards and he only needs 5 your giving it to them.
There was a shot of Clawson in the booth after Cromptom threw a ball 50 Yards out of bounds. I could read his lips. He leaned back and said ‘WOW” I have to believe he was thinking to himself that he cant believe this is the only QB he can work with. Watch out Clawson your getting real close to becomeing the scapegoat for this season.
Im sure it will be interesting on talk radio this week.
